Music Monday: The Lumineers
In an ongoing series of my music interviews posted every Monday on Substack, here’s a chat I had with the singer-songwriter Wesley Schultz of The Lumineers fame.
The Lumineers’ frontman is certainly well-known for wearing his heart on his sleeve in his lyrics.
But the affable Wesley Schultz, who first appeared on Irish fans’ radar after they supported U2 on The Joshua Tree Tour 2017, also doesn’t run for the One Tree hill either when asked about the deeply personal meanings behind those songs.
“If you ask my mom or my wife, I’m the most insanely bad liar,” he said, laughing. “I can tell the truth that’s hard to tell. That’s my gift in my curse. Someone says, ‘What do you think of this?’ I’ll tell you what I really think.”
